The following rules have been added or changed as a result of National, State or Burnsville Softball Council decisions:
1. 55-minute Run Rule: If a team has a lead of 15 runs or more after 5 innings or more of play is complete (4.5 if the home team has the lead), play is allowed to continue if BOTH teams agree. However, at exactly 55 minutes the game is over regardless of the game situation
2. In leagues that have the 1-up homerun rule, the HOME team CAN go 1-up in the 7th inning or beyond. All teams have the same number of home games throughout the season, making this a fair change.
*NEW* updates to home runs allowed for City of Burnsville Leagues:
League | Home Runs Allowed |
Highest Tuesday & Thursday League | 3 then 1-up |
Men’s D Competitive and Rec Leagues | 2 then 1-up |
Over 35 and Senior 50+ | 2 then 1-up |
Women’s | Unlimited |
Co-Rec Sunday Leagues | 1 then 1-up |
Friday Competitive (highest) | 2 then 1-up |
Friday Recreational Mixed League 1 | 2 then 1-up |
Friday Recreational Mixed League 2 | 1 then 1-up |
Friday Recreational Mixed League 3 (lowest) | 0 |
Note: There are some changes to the state/national rules that don’t impact local rules. The rules below were changes at the National level which impact state tournaments and qualifiers but do not impact league play.
1) Men’s D Tournament Play - Any homerun hit over the fence after the limit has been reached will result in an inning ending out.
2) A team is allowed 1 pinch runner per inning
