Heart of the City and Multifamily Parking Study

Heart of the City Parking Study

In 2022, the City updated the Heart of the City Public Space Guidelines. The Heart of the City parking guidelines are provided in Chapter 11. One of the “near term” action items identified in the Heart of the City Public Space Guidelines is to create an HOC District Parking Management Plan to consider the long-term parking needs for district expansion and redevelopment, shared parking policies, and overnight on-street parking policies within the HOC District.

The Public Works/Engineering staff is working with the City’s Traffic and Transportation Consultant, SEH, on this project. The project will include reviewing parking supply/requirements, parking utilization data collection, community engagement and surveys, analysis and recommendations, and a final study report.

To obtain public input and feedback on the HOC District parking behaviors and improvement opportunities, the City will host one in-person “pop-up” meeting at the July 20th Party on the Plaza event as well as share opportunities to complete online surveys.

Multifamily Housing Parking Study

In conjunction with the Heart of the City Parking Study, the project includes a parking analysis to address concerns from residents regarding multifamily housing residents and their guests parking on-street rather than in the designated, private parking lots. The goal of this supplemental study will be to recommend strategies to improve parking demand and management that address parking issues identified in the data collection or survey responses.
