This project includes four study components that are interrelated, with the goal of moving forward transportation improvements for Cliff Road and Nicollet Avenue in Burnsville. These components of the project include:
A multimodal evaluation of Cliff Road between I-35W and TH-13. This evaluation will determine what kinds of infrastructure improvements should be made for people walking and biking along Cliff Road.
A multimodal evaluation of Nicollet Avenue between Cliff Road and TH 13. This evaluation will determine what infrastructure improvements should be made to address the incomplete multimodal facilities on Nicollet Avenue for pedestrians.
An analysis and preliminary design for Cliff Road and I-35W. MnDOT is developing plans to resurface I-35W from Cliff Road to I-35E and replace the bridges at Cliff Road, TH 13, and Burnsville Parkway. As such, an analysis of Cliff Road under I-35W will be conducted to determine a preferred section of roadway. An analysis and preliminary design of the I-35W northbound on- and off- ramps will also be conducted.
An analysis and preliminary design for Cliff Road from I-35W to 12th Avenue south. A traffic analysis will be conducted on Cliff Road to determine alternatives of roadway sections, intersection improvements, and access spacing.
Together these project goals will help develop safer transportation corridors for all users along Cliff Road and Nicollet Avenue.
